GREAT GOLFING
Year-round golfing is a popular pastime in the desert. The winter months offer an avid golfer moderate temperatures which makes anytime of the day a good time to hit the golf course. During the warmer temperatures of summer early morning and evening golf is popular. A number of golf courses, municipal, private and public are available with a variety of skill levels.
All local courses have full service pro shops, offering the latest in golf equipment and attire. Rates vary depending on the time of year and are normally lower during the summer months. Most of the courses also offer special packages or twilight rates. The following is a list of golf facilities in the area:
MOJAVE RESORT GOLF CLUB
Located at 9905 Aha Macav Parkway just across the river from Mohave Valley near the Avi Resort and Casino.
The 18-hole, par 72 championship course features lush fairways and four sets of tees at each hole, providing a suitable level of difficulty for players of all skill levels. Included are 89 strategically placed bunkers, wide friendly fairways and greens. Included with the green fees are use of an electric car and unlimited use of driving range (balls included).

CHAPARRAL COUNTRY CLUB
The public nine-hole course is located at 1260 Mohave Drive in Bullhead City. The traditionally styled course with a great mixture of three and four par-holes has a personalized "private country club" feel and is affordable enough for any golfers budget. For locals there are two annual tournaments, one is the prestigious and coveted Presidents Cup Club Championship.

WILLOW SPRINGS GOLF COURSE
Located at 8011 South Highway 95 in Mohave Valley offers a nine-hole, par 27 course with water hazards and separate tee locations for the back nine.

DESERT LAKES GOLF COURSE
Located at 5835 South Desert Lakes Drive in Fort Mojave is an 18-hole, 72 par course with a traditional design that can challenge the best professionals and a novice as well as providing a true test for a fun-filled day of golf. Desert Lakes features the only water driving range in the area with floating golf balls and island targets.The clubhouse features a restaurant and grill including patio dining overlooking the golf course. Small banquet facilities are lso available. The course is open to special events tournaments including the ladies PGA West tour and hosts its own American Gold Tournament.

RIVERS EDGE GOLF COURSE
Located at 144 Marina Drive in Needles, California, this course caters to golfers of all skill levels with its challenging scenic par 71, 18-hole championship course. Two certified PGA professionals, Tom Russell and J.C. Bacon, are in staff to give lessons. The course provides a lighted driving range, practice putting and chipping greens, pro shop, snack bar and lounge.

LOS LAGOS GOLF CLUB
The newest golfing facility in the area is an 18-hole championship course designed by Ted Robinson. With the Black Mountains as its backdrop, the par 72 course is located at Boundary Cone Road about 1 1/2 mile east of Highway 95 in the heart of Mohave Valley. RIVERVIEW RESORT GOLF CLUB

HUNTING & FISHING
Autumn offers some of the southwests best morning dove hunting. Hunters from California and Arizona invade the valleys desert land and farms September first. Quail season opens October 10. Arizona also has big game hunts throughout the fall. Elk are prolific in the White Mountains, a few hours northeast of Mohave Valley. Deer, bighorn sheep and buffalo are also hunted. Big game hunts are conducted by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Tags are issued during a summer drawing.
Fishing is available in the Colorado River and in Lake Mohave. Boats are handy, but shore fishing is just as effective.
Topock Marsh, a part of the Colorado River, within the valley, is popular for large mouth bass, year-round. Striped bass have become an area legend, fished mostly in the river, the tasty bass have been recorded as heavy as 60 pounds. Fishermen claim the hotter it gets, the bigger the striper. Rainbow trout, catfish and crappie are also fished in the area.
Permits for hunting and fishing on lands of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe are available at the Long Lake Ranger Station (928-330-3000.) The Long Lake station is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (AZ time) and some week ends. On weekends when the station is closed permits may be purchased from the Fort Mojave Tribal Police Department.
